Sweet Running Filly
Published in Paperback by New American Library (June, 1971)
Author: Pat Johnson
Average review score:

Wonderful series
I read the Bonnie books when I was a kid, and I still remember them twenty years or so later as some of the best books I read. Great stories for any girl who likes horses, or boys, or both.

Great fiction for preteens interested in horses/horse racing
This is the start of a series about a race horse named Bonnie and the girl who saves her from some scam artists. It's full of mystery and suspense and will touch the heart of all who love horses and horse racing.

Symmetry: Relieve Pain (Book & CD-Rom)
Published in Mass Market Paperback by Quantum Media (01 April, 1999)
Authors: Richard R. Johnson, Patrick R. Mummy, Tom Palmer, and Tpm Palmer

Exercise With a Twist
I'm a weight lifter. When my massage therapist told me about this book and told me it was about muscle strength, I thought that no one could be stronger than I was. I tried a couple of the exercises in the book and realized I was not as strong as I thought I was. All I can say is give it a try you will be surprised how much more effective you become in the weight room and with all exercise. I can lift more and I look better. My body is leaner and more cut. I also enjoy my workouts more because I am not sore afterwards. I particularly enjoyed the CD-ROM. It is a very effective way to learn about this therapy and to try it for yourself. I recommend this book highly to anyone who wants to look and feel better.

Feeling Like a New Person!
I have had pain for the majority of my life and have sought various treatments including physical therapy, chiropractic, massage, acupunture...you name it, I've tried it. Everyone of whom said they could help me. No one did. My doctor recommeded this book saying it would help me. He was right. A sceptic by heart I tried it halfheartedly. But couldn't believe how much better I felt in a week. I immediately called the clinic and booked myself in for an appointment. Today, I am still doing the exercises every day, running, dancing and enjoying my life. Thanks to the people at Symmetry.

Tales of the Lance (Dragonlance)
Published in Hardcover by Wizards of the Coast (July, 1992)
Authors: John Terra and Harold Johnson
Average review score:

Great intro to Dragonlance!
For someone who only read the novels, this was a good intro into the game. I borrowed my friends, and I think I'll by my own soon.

An excellent supplement to AD&D
Of all campaign settings I've ever played, I find the Dragon Lance setting the most intrigueing. If under the use of a good DM, it will, adventure after adventure help to produce some of the best roleplaying out there

Tarot for Every Day: Ideas and Activities for Bringing Tarot Wisdom into Your Daily Life
Published in Paperback by Shawangunk Pr (October, 1994)
Authors: Cait Johnson and Joe Tantillo
Average review score:

Forming A Relationship With The Tarot
This book is incredible for forming a relationship with the Tarot whether you have been reading it for years or are brand-new. However, there is virtually nothing about analyzing/reading the cards, so people very new to the tarot should also get a "beginner book" with interpretations and such.

This is a GREAT book, with a feel-good attitude.
This is a wonderful tarot book, full of fun activities and ideas, as well as tarot spreads, recipies (yes, recipies!) and much, much more that are all useful, fun to do and easy to follow. However, I do suggest that the reader has a basic background and familiarity with the cards before starting, as it doesn't give meanings or descriptions of the cards per se. It is even good to share with children, as they wourld enjoy some of the activities also. The author has a very warm writing style and it seems like she is talking with you, not telling you, as she describes things. And, it's not dry and humorless like many other tarot books. A wonderful addition to the library of anyone who has tarot cards. I only wish I had purchased it sooner!

Ted Williams a Portrait in Words and Pictures
Published in Hardcover by Walker & Co (April, 1991)
Authors: Glenn Stout and Dick Johnson
Average review score:

Great Book, Great Hitter
There are a great number of Ted Williams books available, ranging from those that are primarily illustrations to those that are only text. This fine book, which was a NY Times Notable Book of the Year when it was first published, is now back in print and offers the best of both worlds. I think it also provides the best portrait of Williams ever put together, stripped of the sentimentality of most other books, and full of information not revealed elsewhere, such as the when the shift was really first used against Ted and what really happened in the 1947 MVP vote. The essays add to this portrait, and the photographs, while all in black and white, are absolutely classic. Stout and Johnson also wrote the extraordinary Red Sox Century - if you already have that you must get this.

Man of Mystery Revealed
For many Ted Williams remains a mystery wrapped in an enigma. This well written and nicely crafted book does much to untangle the mystery, intrigue, and controversy that seems to orbit Ted Williams to this day.

Williams, like Ruth, was both wonderfully flawed and wonderfully talented. This book reveals both with honesty and candor.

It has been said that in learning about others we find ourselves. I found this to be the case here. For example, which is not specifically a book about and for adult children of alcoholics Ted Williams definitely was one (in his case, the son of a religious addict). If you find yourself on the recovery path you will find much to glean from here! I found myself in this book time and time again. Perhaps you will too. Now if only I could HIT like Williams...

And on top of everything else it's a Baseball book with photos and stats galore! What more could you ask for?

I adored this book and believe that you will too!

Tell Me a Story, Mama
Published in Library Binding by Bt Bound (October, 1999)
Authors: Angela Johnson and David Soman
Average review score:

A Good Book
I like this book because it is a good story. Ms. Johnson did a nice job. I liked the part where the little girl threw mud on the picket fence. The old lady was mean.

You need to read this book and find out all the stories Mama told.

Tell me a story, Mama
My daughter is still a little too young to read the book, but she LOVES the pictures. This is a very well illustrated book. The story reminds me of times in my childhood when I would ask my mother to tell me stories of when she was little. My nieces and nephew (5 years old and 8 years old), can relate very well to the book. They giggle and laugh at things the main character says, because they can relate to it. This book is a family "keeper!"

The Thames and Hudson manual of bookbinding
Published in Unknown Binding by Thames & Hudson ()
Author: Arthur W. Johnson
Average review score:

A "Must Have" Book for the Serious Bookbinder
Of the many popular books in print today on bookbinding, this one is by far the most comprehensive. It reads like a graduate level textbook and must be studied carefully; it isn't conducive to casual reading. Many of the sentences are difficult to understand and must be thought about for awhile to figure out. Nevertheless, I wouldn't want to undertake a new step in the binding process without first reading what this book has to say. I strongly recommend it for the serious student of bookbinding.

A very good instruction manual
This book describes in clear detail how to properly bind a book for maximum durability. It includes details on case bindings (the easiest and weakest), library bindings (one of the strongest), flexible and sunk-cord bindings (traditional), and limp bindings. Although the author makes much about having the right tools, his descriptions are clear enough that one can improvise. With this book, I was able to make a book from paper, boards, and leather that came out quite well on my first try.

The Throne of the Third Heaven of the Nations Millennium General Assembly : Poems Collected and New
Published in Paperback by Perennial Press (May, 1996)
Author: Denis Johnson
Average review score:

Will the Poet Come Home?
Doubtless, Denis Johnson is an extraordinary writer of fiction: his stories and novels are terrifying, delightful, hilarious, and bleak. But it remains, even in the prose, the quality of the language, the strange otherworldly perceptions he distills to image and figure, that drives the work. JESUS' SON is a great work, as is ANGELS. The other novels and stories would be enough to give him a reputation as a first rate writer. But the poems! That's where he started, and if you want to see how he got where fiction has taken him, go to the poems. It's not like any other poetry. He's a kind of dark, dwarf Rilke, a kind of misbegotten, doesn't-want-to-be-bad-but-can't-help-it Neruda. Denis Johnson is not the sort of poet the Academy of American Poets will celebrate, and that says far more about the Academy than about Johnson. What I wish? Another collection of poems. Soon.

A major collection
Denis Johnson's collection revives his long out-of-print "Man Among the Seals" and continues Johnson's life-long look at America's disenfranchised and marginalized. These poems have all kinds of surprises, both in subject matter and uses of language. Well worth buying, if you're interested in contemporary poetry.

Tiny Game Hunting: Environmentally Healthy Ways to Trap and Kill the Pests in Your House and Garden New Edition
Published in Paperback by University of California Press (04 June, 2001)
Authors: Hilary Dole Klein, Adrian M. Wenner, and Courtlandt Johnson
Average review score:

Lose the Poisons, Gain Health
This book was just what I was looking for to keep my medium-sized yard and tiny garden in shape without adding to the chemical burden of my home town. I got accurate, easy advice that turned out in most cases to be more effective and less work than spraying with a chemical cocktail. Now I'm purchasing a copy for my neighbor, in the hopes that he'll see the light.

Tiny Game Hunting... two thumbs way up!
This could be the most useful book I own. It gets more use than my dictionary. Tiny Game Hunting offers practical and effective methods of capturing or killing common household and garden pests; everying from insects and spiders, to lizards and smakes, and mice and gophers. It focuses on environmentally safe extermination methods. Many of the traps, repellents, and pesticides can be made cheaply with common items found in the kitchen or garage. More than just pest control, the book offers some basic information on the habits and history of the critters. Have a problem with a pest? I bet it's in here. It's honestly one of the best books I'll ever own!

Trackwork and Lineside Detail for Your Model Railroad (Model Railroader Books)
Published in Paperback by Kalmbach Publishing Company (October, 2000)
Authors: Kent J. Johnson and Model Railroad Staff
Average review score:

Excellent Book!
Definitely worth the money. This book has lots of the little details (and not-so-little, such as the basics of hand-laying track) that make your layout really shine.

More information than I'll probably ever use
This book offers some excellent tips for all, from the beginner (like myself) to the intermediate-going-on-advanced modeler. Especially useful for me were the sections on laying flextrack, ballasting, weathering rails and improving performance of turnouts and switches. I'd recommend this to anyone who wants to thoroughly study the subject before they begin to tackle a detailed layout.
